Module One - Task A, B

Module One - Task A - Telnet

I followed the instructions and had a popup with the following message:
This link needs to be opened with an application
After several failures to access Telnet, I 'googled' Telnet and found the answer.

  • Satrt>Run>Telnet and worked fine.

Outcome & experiences -

I got stuck when it asked me for my Curtin email address. I wanted to get it right the first time. I frantically looked for my email address and of course, I was logged out of Telnet.
I started all over again to find out that my first instructions were no longer correct.
I tried all the different keys and bang, I was in. The rest was easy. I have to admit; I have once, used such a system. Yes, I have been around a while. It was double Dutch to me at the time and still is now. No guessing with Telnet; It's very precise. Do as it says or you don't get anywhere. It was quite exciting when it actually worked. The way we communicate nowadays has come a long way.

ardon me sir...

Outcome & experiences -

I actually watched quite a bit of this...and thoroughly enjoyed it.
It brought back few memories. That is where it all started, what a journey. I am glad that I was somewhat part of it. What can be done nowadays blows the mind but its beginning was quite modest and open doors to the possibilities of what we have now, at our fingertips. Intelligent terminal like TELNET allowed access to the world and immensely improved communications. Before Telnet there were dumb terminals connected to a mainframe and before that, there were floppy disks, and before the floppies there were punched cards. The limitations were the processors speed, the memory required and physical hard disk space; all needed improvement.

  1. Hi Renee,

Re: tip 5 - funny I reckon that most of what I do on the net and the reason why I get to where I am because I stumble and fall, experiment and try - hit few hurdles but learn along the way!! All the best!
